Vehicle Description 1966 Porsche 912 Coupe • VIN 451735 • Engine No. 4094041 • Transmission No. 222559 - Matching • Certificate of Authenticity • Completed September 10, 1965 Southern California black-plate, short-wheelbase 912, finished in
Light Ivory with Black upholstery and accompanied by its Porsche
Certificate of Authenticity. As one of Porsche's early 912 models,
this example offers the light, balanced character of the
short-wheelbase 912, along with the usability and durability that
have made these cars increasingly appreciated by enthusiasts. The exterior is well-preserved and has benefited from recent
upholstery. In 2025, the 912 received a series of updates,
including Group 4 alloy wheels, Vredestein 165 HR15 tires, exterior
rubber seals, wiper blades, and extensive interior work by K & H
European Auto Upholstery. The interior features black upholstery, a
VDM wood-rimmed steering wheel with butterfly horn ring,
black-with-green-script VDO instrumentation, and a Porsche radio
delete plate. The undercarriage is solid and rust-free. Mechanically, the 912 has received extensive attention from Scott's
Independent in Anaheim, California, between 2023 and 2026, with
work focused on drivability, braking, suspension, fuel delivery,
electrical reliability, and roadworthiness. Early service addressed
running quality by correcting timing, adjusting distributors,
balancing carburetors, replacing needle valves, adjusting throttle
linkages, and installing Vintage Trader LED H4 headlights.
Subsequent service included a complete tune and valve adjustment,
new spark plugs, points, oil and filter service, valve cover
gaskets, brake hose replacement, brake fluid flush, rear brake
pads, fuse panel cleaning, and further carburetor tuning. Additional work in 2025 included installing a seatbelt system,
fitting new seats, paintless dent removal, door lock tumbler
adjustment, master cylinder feed line replacement, brake bleeding,
taillight ground repairs, and further sorting. Later that year,
Scott's Independent installed and set up a freshly assembled 1883cc
912 engine, fitted an external full-flow oil system, replaced the
main shaft seal and throw-out bearing, installed carburetor
adaptors, replaced the clutch cable and Bowden tube components,
serviced the gearbox with Swepco gear oil, and rebuilt the shift
mechanism with new bushings. Most recently, in 2026, an electric
fuel pump was installed beneath the rear seat with fused-switch
power, followed by a short service that included oil and filter
replacement, valve adjustment, inspection of the brakes, battery,
lights, suspension points, transmission fluid level, timing, and a
road test. Powered by a freshly assembled 1883cc 912 engine paired with its
matching 5-speed manual transmission and four-wheel disc brakes.
This 912 has been improved both cosmetically and mechanically while
retaining the engaging, lightweight feel that defines early
short-wheelbase Porsches. With its recent cosmetic refurbishment,
extensive service history from Scott's Independent, and clean
driver-level presentation, this 1966 Porsche 912 Coupe represents
an appealing opportunity to acquire a well-prepared early 912 ready
for enjoyment. Read more
