Highlights Only two former registered keepers In current ownership for approximately 25 years Reported to be largely original and unmodified Service history dating back to 1972, we are told Engine top end and gearbox noted to have been rebuilt in 2021 The Appeal The Porsche 912 has long been cherished as the more accessible entry point to air-cooled Porsche ownership, yet it is a rewarding car in its own right. Lighter than its six-cylinder sibling, the 912's flat-four and modest power output reward a driver who relishes balance and involvement over outright speed, qualities that have only grown in appreciation over the decades. This example has known just three owners from new, the second having purchased it in 1972 and the current vendor acquiring it in June 2000 whilst living in California. It has since been imported to Ireland with duties and taxes paid. The vendor reports that no modifications have been carried out, and the car remains largely original, right down to its working Blaupunkt radio, Recaro seats in black leatherette, and the delivery card and owner's manual still residing in the glove box. Mechanically, the car has reportedly benefited from significant recent attention, including a gearbox rebuild and engine top end rebuild in 2021, reassembly with a new clutch in 2024, and a carburetor service and balance in late 2024. The vendor describes the car as a joy to drive, particularly on tight, twisty roads, and states it has proved very reliable and inexpensive to maintain. image.png 1.38 MB Key Information Mileage: 76,565 miles indicated; the odometer has gone around the clock, with an estimated actual reading of approximately 176,565 miles (not warranted) Country of origin: USA (permanently imported to Ireland, duties and taxes paid, registration pending) Technical inspection status: exempt Technical specs: 1,750cc flat-four, four-speed manual Paperwork: Irish registration card, original delivery card, owner's manual, Blaupunkt radio manual; reportedly has service history dating back to 1972 image.png 1.35 MB The Detail Originally delivered via Klein Foreman Motors of Van Nuys, California Red paintwork Opening front quarter light windows Blaupunkt radio fitted and reportedly working, Kraco speakers Gearbox removed and rebuilt by specialist Mike Bainbridge in 2021, we are told Engine reportedly disassembled, checked, and given a top end rebuild in 2021 Noted to have been reassembled in April 2024 with a new clutch and many new parts around the engine bay Carburettors serviced and balanced in November 2024, we are told Said to have been repainted by the previous owner in 1997; paintwork now showing various marks and chips up close 15-inch Fuchs wheels fitted in 2020; original chromed steel wheels with hubcaps also included All dashboard instruments reported working except the clock Recaro seats with headrests in black leatherette; the vendor describes these as in good condition but showing some wear Original door pockets have been removed Bilstein jack still with the car Small oil leak present, possibly from a push rod tube, not yet confirmed Garaged and reportedly used mainly on dry summer days Accumulated parts and spares included in the sale image.png 1.38 MB BEFORE YOU BUY This sale is subject to the Car & Classic Terms and Conditions .
