This 1968 912 Soft Window Targa underwent a rotisserie restoration between 2008 and 2010 and presents very well in the factory Tangerine color. The rare Soft Window Targa variant with Fuchs wheels and four-wheel disc brakes justifies some premium, but the asking price sits about 11% above the median. Concerns: mileage is not stated, there are no engine photos, and the Momo Prototipo wheel points to some non-original details. Restoration documentation and engine condition should be verified for a proper assessment.

Vehicle Description *1968 Porsche 912 Soft Window Targa*These days, the Porsche 911 is
one of the most widely loved sports cars on sale. But upon its
release in 1964, many Porsche enthusiasts weren't thrilled by the
company's plans to swap the 356 for a more powerful, more expensive
vehicle. To appease those buyers without having to develop an
entirely new car, Porsche did a bit of work on the flat-4 that
would have been found in the 356, then dropped it into the short
wheelbase 911 shell, creating a lighter, more affordable vehicle
known as the 912.This 912 Soft Window Targa is a beautiful example
of one of the rarest sub-models of 912 ever offered. Finished in a
factory shade known as Tangerine, this 912 benefits from rotisserie
restoration which took place between 2008 and 2010 which still
presents fantastically well. Porsche invented the removable Targa
top as a workaround for rumored anti-convertible regulations, and
the soft window was the most convertible-like of them all. As the
name implies, the rear window is a soft piece of vinyl with a
plastic window, which can be unzipped and gives a true open air
driving experience. This example sits on a set of 15-inch Fuchs
wheels which sit in front of a set of 4-wheel disc brakes. On the
inside, front sport seats are trimmed with Houndstooth cloth
centers and vinyl outer bolsters and headrests, while the two rear
seats are wrapped in black vinyl. Drop into the driver's seat and
you are met by a 3-spoke Momo Prototipo steering wheel, which
frames a large central tachometer, flanked by a speedometer and
clock to the right and two multi-gauges for temperature and fuel to
the left. All gauges are finished in green-on-black and will be a
familiar sight to any early 911 owner. A Retrofit radio with a
hidden USB cable in the glovebox has been fitted, offering an
original look but modern features.Under the rear decklid sits a
1.6-liter air cooled flat 4 that breathes through a pair of Solex
carburetors. Rated at 102 horsepower from the factory, this 912 is
greatly improved with the rather uncommon 5-speed manual gearbox
which allows you to extract all the performance out of the engine.
Engine stampings on this car indicate that the engine was replaced
by Porsche likely under warranty early in the car's life, but it
remains period correct and in very good running condition. These
912s are known to be much more neutral handling-wise when compared
to the 911 thanks to the shorter 4-cylinder engine being almost
mid-engined rather than rear.If you're looking for a classic
backroad sports car or a weekend cars and coffee companion, then
this 912 should be on the short list. With just over 3,000 miles
since restoration, it presents proudly and has been driven enough
to be "sorted" and ready for summer. Please note - this 912 is
actually a model year 1967, but was originally titled as a 1968 and
has been ever since.*Key Features* * Rotisserie Restoration
